Clery Today Webinar Series

Since 1990, the Clery Act has guided and transformed campus safety efforts. Its evolution over the years caused campus needs to shift and change.  Today, while many institutions and professionals might be familiar with the foundation of Clery Act requirements, they still have questions about its application, particularly in relation to most recent Department of Education guidance coupled with national campus safety trends and concerns. Our Clery Today webinar series focuses on breaking down relevant, pressing concerns campus safety professionals face in implementing Clery Act requirements.

Clery Today: Sexual Assault, Domestic Violence, Dating Violence, and Stalking Policy

Cost: $99.00/person (free for Clery Center members)

Three years ago this July, the final regulations of the Violence Against Women Act went into effect which changed the face of sexual misconduct prevention and response efforts by amending the Clery Act.  While most institutions are aware of these changes and updates many are still working on institutionalizing sustainable practices that meet these requirements.  Join us for this webinar if you are aware of the VAWA requirements but looking to gain some clarity and inspiration for fine-tuning your prevention and response efforts on campus.  We will examine some promising practices and address common questions regarding:

  • Written notification to all students and employees about on and off campus services
  • Ensuring prevention and response practices are housed within a policy
  • Creating solid lines of communication between offices/departments responsible for work in both prevention and response to ensure consistent language describing services and approaches
  • Examining the intersections between Title IX and the Clery Act particularly as they pertain to disciplinary proceedings for student and employee cases

Please submit any questions regarding sexual assault, dating violence, domestic violence and stalking policy requirements that you would like answered during the webinar to either Abigail Boyer at gro.r1532034072etnec1532034072yrelc1532034072@reyo1532034072ba1532034072 or Laura Egan at gro.r1532034072etnec1532034072yrelc1532034072@nage1532034072l1532034072 at least 24 hours before the start of the webinar.  We will do our best to address these questions during the webinar but might be unable to tackle all due to time constraints.
